Anthony Danial welcomed members to the 2023 Annual General Meeting. Having covered housekeeping items, Anthony introduced himself as having been a member since 2017. He continued with the Call to Order and confirm that the official notice of the meeting was delivered to all members via newsletter on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, which is in compliance with the 14-day notification period required by-law.
Anthony proceeded with the call for approval of the the 2023 Annual General Meeting Agenda, which was approved by Marika Bishop (PPNO Board Member) and second by Jennifer Clifford. Anthony then requested approval of the Thursday, October 6, 2022, Meeting Minutes, which was approved by the members in attendance via show of hands and second by Marika Bishop (PPNO Board Member).
Anthony explained that, according to PPNO’s by-laws, the organization can have up to 7 Executive Board members. Currently, there are 5 returning board members, and 1 member has completed their term and is not standing for re-election, leaving 2 open positions on the Executive Board.
To fill these positions, PPNO issued a call for Executive Board members and received 3 applications. The applicants are Alisha Aggarwal, Manager of Quarantine Services at the Government of Canada (Public Health Agency of Canada), who is currently on maternity leave; Jennifer Clifford, Manager of Interprofessional Practice at Joseph Brant Hospital; and Paulette Roberts, Director of Professional Practice and Interim Chief Nursing Executive at Hawkesbury District & General Hospital.
Anthony provided instructions for voting. In-person attendees were given paper ballots to select two Executive Board members, while virtual attendees were directed to vote via the online polling system. Votes would be collected, and the results would be announced at the end of the AGM.
Anthony took the opportunity to thank outgoing board member Jennifer Matheson for her years of commitment to PPNO. He acknowledged her dedication, noting that her contributions of time and talent have been instrumental in supporting the association’s mission. Anthony expressed gratitude on behalf of PPNO, stating that Jennifer’s presence and efforts would be greatly missed. He then invited Jennifer to stand and be acknowledged by the attendees.
Anthony presented the financial report for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2022. Anthony notifies the attendees that the Financial Report was approved by the Board. Anthony reported that the Network realized an income of $22,500 against expenses of $14,999 resulting in a net income at end of June, 2023 of $7,501. It was also noted that the balance sheet showed investments on behalf of the organization. The financial statement was approved by the members in attendance second by Marika Bishop (PPNO Board Member).
Following the 2022 financial Report review, Anthony moved to confirm and complete the financial review for the fiscal year ending December 21, 2023. The financial review was approved by the members in attendance and second by Marika Bishop (PPNO Board Member).
Anthony provides a membership update with 82 member organizations and 249 affiliates.
Anthony provides PPNO’s direction and the promising future ahead. He reflected on the challenges the industry has faced over the past three years, acknowledging the resilience and dedication required to navigate these difficult times. Despite the obstacles, PPNO continues to persevere, supporting the industry by fostering thought leadership discussions through the membership portal and offering a network of colleagues for collaboration and mutual support.
Anthony expressed PPNO’s gratitude for members’ commitment, professionalism, and leadership. He encouraged everyone to take a moment to celebrate their achievements, both as individuals and as part of a dedicated community.
Anthony announced the results of the vote. The following two members were elected to the Executive Board:
Jennifer Clifford, Manager of Interprofessional Practice at Joseph Brant Hospital
Paulette Perras nee Roberts, Director of Professional Practice and Interim Chief Nursing Executive at Hawkesbury District & General Hospital
Anthony expressed gratitude to all applicants for their willingness to serve and congratulated the new board members on their election.
Anthony concluded the meeting, reiterating gratitude for everyone’s dedication and contributions to the industry. He encouraged members to continue their impactful work and adjourned the meeting following the announcement of election results and acknowledgments.
There being no other business, the Annual General Meeting was adjourned.
